A stitch in my side

About me

Hi, my name is Sonya and welcome to my blog!

I’m a forty something girlie who lives and works in Brisbane, Australia.  This blog is an occasional place for me to post about my adventures in sewing, needlework and quilting.   I prefer to let my sewing grow organically from the seeds of my imagination.  As a self-taught sewer I stick to the basics but am always on the hunt for new ideas.  Some of these ideas work.

I use a Janome 4120QDC.

Ten things about me:

  1. My favourite book (ever) is Anne of Green Gables
  2. I don’t care to dance
  3. If I could travel anywhere I’d like to go to the moon (I like cheese)
  4. Basil is my cat (Mr B to all his admirers)
  5. I like to think I’m an optimist but I’m really a pessimist
  6. I buy more pencils, pens, glitter, buttons and ribbons than I could possibly ever use
  7. My favourite TV shows are The West Wing; Friends; Bones; Big Bang Theory; and Community.
  8. I love cherries (in jam, jars, tins, maraschino, glace and cherry ripes)
  9. Doris Day singing always makes me happy
  10. I can’t say the word ask properly – just aks anyone

  1. I was nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award today! In appreciation, it now becomes my turn to make choices! I hope you don’t mind, but… I’ve enjoyed your blog so much that I’ve nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Thank you so much for ALL the great help and tips you’ve shared that will help my husband and I with our goals! ~ Teresa
